Puppet Killer is a slightly amateurish comedy horror. Starring: Aleks Paunovic (as lead: Jamie), Lee Majdoub and Lisa Durupt (as Jessie).

Jamie’s step-mother is murdered when he is young. He believes a puppet killed her, 10 years later he goes back to the scene of the crime with his friends and facing his demons does not turn out as well as planned.

Do not expect Scream or Sean of the Dead, the tropes are over simplified and not that clever. However, if you have some spare-time it will mildly amuse.

The scripting is quite innocent and hammy, probably deliberately so. Yet the characters are just a little too juvenile and caricaturised. Though this is a very lo-fi film, so it is probably overly harsh criticism.

There are some very gross moments and it gets funnier and gorier towards the end.

It has a great musical score and it is a relatively worthwhile watch, if you don’t mind suspending your disbelief even within the realm of horror and simple dramatisation.

Best watched drunk, bored or with rowdy mates.

Puppet Killer is available for digital download in the UK from the 29th of November.
