Mouth watering food: They don’t cock it up!
The Cock Inn is listed as one of the top 10 places to eat lunch in Epsom and it lives up to the hype
Everyone is wary of fake reviews online these days with Amazon being a huge offender, so good to see that TripAdvisor is still coming up with the goods.
The Cock Inn is not in Epsom Town Centre, so you will need a car, taxi or local (highly infrequent) bus to get there, but boy is it worth the journey.
The food portions are not as generous as in some pubs I have visited, but it is enough to fill you up at lunch time and even give you room for dessert, as someone who can rarely fill that it.
I sampled the pork belly, with veg and sage and onion potato terrine, which comes with a pumpkin purée and black pudding crumb that you may mistake for burnt food, don’t!
It was delicious and just the amount for a lunch time really.
A complaint if I were to make any is that the cabbage was a little oily, but I know some people don’t like dry cabbage, moving on.
I felt spoilt in the extreme when I was offered a dessert menu, from which I picked an Eton Mess.
The dessert again was just enough, so you won’t be left stuffed from two courses from this lovely pub.
Although I could not quite detect evidence of the elderflower and apple sorbet that was promised, but this may have been what I though was fruit sauce…
This place is not cheap, so make it the main event of your day and sit down for a leisurely few hours with friends, if you are entertaining kids these meals could really set you back.
However, the place is sublime, the service excellent and the drinks varied and in the case of one cocktail I sampled simply exquisite.
By all means go to this place for special occasions, you will not be disappointed after your journey.
You will find The Cock Inn opposite Headley Church just outside Epsom, be warned there is no bank near by…
