NHS strike about more than money
The Doctor’s strike in the National Health Service in England is about more than their pay packets its about long-term health
The Doctors are set to walk out again in a wave of strikes that is about more than just take home pay.
The NHS is being privatised by stealth and it has been happening for a long, long time.
The Conservative’s opened the door to further privatisation, but the current Labour leadership has done little to highlight this shift.
If you don’t want a private health service where health is a privilege and not a right I urge you to support them in this.
I am tired, I am angry, I have heard the privatisation creep arguments till I’m sick to my stomach.
Privatisation does not enhance or help the NHS, it diminishes its intrinsic principle and leaves it a second class option where once it was the standard for everyone.
This is not where we are yet, it is where we really could go.
The American health service is hugely inequitable and leaves many too impoverished for fair and decent health care.
So I ask you to stand up for a diamond more rare than any that could come from the ground.
I ask you to stand by the health professionals that are walking out for reasons greater than just what is in their own pockets, but for a service and people that saw us through Covid.
A service that took a World War to inspire that still has a quality of service to rival the world for all its challenges.
I can not believe we are throwing it away for the charms of Twitter, Tik Tok and money.
I need a well trained health professional when I am sick and at the time that comes I want my tax money to have paid them well enough that I am not being asked to fork out for a private doctor that I never wanted.
I can live without diamonds and pearls, I might not even have found my first breath without a decent mid-wife.
I know I write in a context of failings and unnecessary deaths, but private care is the worst answer.
It is not transparent, it is not ours, it is not for all.
Support the NHS strike, they are the ones that work on modest pay to give you all the wealth of health.
Do not desert them and they will not desert you.
