You’ll be glad this is The Last Heist
A south London gangster tale that you might want to give a miss
Six month after a bank job gone sideways, four criminals reunite to split the proceeds of the heist.
Before they all go their separate ways, the crew need to make sense of the mess and figure out what went wrong.
The Last Heist starts slowly and continues at a slow pace.
Although there is an interesting twist at the end, you may have given up on the film by that point as there is little substantive meat past gangster tales to carry you through to the end.
The Last Heist is inspired by true stories, real events and real people (with the names changed to protect the not-so-innocent).
However, my advice is to give this film a miss, because the interesting ending is not enough to take you through all the slow arc of this, rather short, gangster story.
If you absolutely love the south London gangster genre you might insist on watching to add one more to your belt, but I suspect even you will be disappointed.
There are some beautiful shots of London and some nice characterisations, but they are quite stereotyped characterisations and lack any real depth.
If you are responsive to violence, you might find yourself wincing or turning away at points, this is not a fluffy bunny tale.
This is definitely a lad’s movie, but ultimately even a poor one of these.
